The Kinect was originally announced by Microsoft way back in June 2009 and since then it has come a long way. It was touted as a controller free gaming experience, as well as an entertainment experience too. Users can connect this device to their Xbox 360, enabling them to play various supported games without the use of a hand held controller. The user simply uses their body as a controller by doing specific gestures and speaking. Every model of the Xbox 360 is compatible with the Kinect device.
The device consists of microphones and an infrared sensor in order to recognise people who are in the room. It then translates movements into commands via its internal software.
